LAC LA HACHE, BRITISH COLUMBIA - GWR Resources Inc. The Lac La Hache project contains several drilled prospects including a 43-101 compliant Resource at the Spout Magnetite-Copper (gold-silver) Skarn Deposit (http://www.gwrresources.com/s/TechnicalReports.asp) and a non-compliant geological estimate within the gold-rich Aurizon breccia-hosted porphyry copper-gold-silver zones. As announced earlier this year (see Feb. 5 News), several new gold, copper, molybdenum and multi-element, multiple-site soil geochemical targets were identified by last fall’s property-wide “A-horizon” geochemical sampling program. The technique has been proven effective for locating porphyry mineralization in the Quesnel Trough. Our survey was supervised by expert Dr. Colin Dunn using wide-spaced sampling (nominally 500 m between sites) to search for large anomalies. In combination with our latest geological and geophysical information, geochemical anomalies identified in the sampling program provide strong guidance for potential new copper, gold-rich copper and copper-molybdenum deposits associated with alkalic and calc-alkalic intrusions, in unexplored areas of the project (see related images at www.gwrresources.com)
Of particular interest in the previously unexplored areas of the project is the “Scorpio” molybdenum-tungsten-silver A-horizon anomaly located within the Murphy pluton. Results here offer geochemical vectors for potential copper-molybdenum (tungsten-silver) porphyry mineralization. Similar intrusive rocks host the Gold Fields - Consolidated Woodjam Copper Southeast Copper-Molybdenum Deposit (146.5 million tonnes grading 0.33% copper) located 18 km to the north. The anomalous molybdenum at Scorpio is defined by 20 sites spaced over 9 km2 (3.5 mi2) along a strike of more than 3 km (1.8 mi) east of Two Mile Lake. Mo concentrations are 5 to 50 times local background.
New detailed ground magnetometer and induced polarization (IP) surveys were completed over the Scorpio area in April 2013 by Walcott and Associates and final data was received in May 2013. Results define a series of magnetic highs with modest IP chargeability signatures, lying within northwest-trending magnetic features, coincident with the Scorpio geochemical anomaly. The geophysical and geochemical anomalies lie in the central magnetic low within the large circular magnetic high which has been interpreted to represent the external “thermal” contact of the Murphy Pluton with host Nicola volcanic rocks. Overburden in the Scorpio area has been shown to be thin, with local outcrops noted during reconnaissance geological mapping by Dr. D. Bailey, in 2012.
Several new gold geochemical anomalies, supported by accompanying “pathfinder” elements commonly associated with gold, such as silver, arsenic, bismuth, antimony, tellurium and tungsten) have been defined in unexplored areas in the west, northwest, northeast and central parts of the property. The largest of these lies immediately east of the Scorpio soil-molybdenum, covering 7 km2 (2.7 mi2) and defined by 16 contiguous anomalous gold sites along a strike of 5 km (3 mi). Five additional Ah-horizon gold target areas are also indicated, including the highest Ah-horizon gold value obtained, within a single site on the eastern flank of the previously outlined “M1” magnetic anomaly. This site also has very high tungsten, an association that has been recognized at many other deposits in the Quesnel Trough, and is considered a key indicator. Based on our successful, historical results at Peach and Aurizon Prospects, GWR considers these gold-rich soil anomalies as potential vectors to copper-gold porphyry mineralization.
More than six new multi-site soil-copper anomalies within and west of the Murphy Pluton provide direct vectoring to potential copper mineralization. A very strong copper anomaly in the northeastern corner of the property lies along the circular magnetic ring, in an area broadly defined by airborne gamma ray spectrometric/magnetic surveys, offering another excellent target.
Within the middle of the property, northeast of Spout Lake, enrichments of rare earth elements (REE), copper, yttrium, lanthanum, gallium, lithium, uranium, thorium and selenium are accompanied by elevated levels of beryllium, gallium and hafnium. Property-wide, this elemental assemblage is unique and may reflect mineralized pegmatitic occurrences containing copper or REE potential within the Murphy intrusion.
New geochemical and geophysical surveying at Lac La Hache are generating new exploration targets for copper, copper-gold, magnetite-copper and possible polymetallic mineralization. Phase 1 of our 2013 Exploration Plan included new detailed ground magnetometer and induced polarization surveys over the Scorpio area, and this has been completed. Phase 2 will commence late June, 2013, exploring the Scorpio anomalies and the new Ah-horizon gold anomalies located immediately east of Scorpio, east of Murphy lake, south of Two-Mile Lake and further south in the Rail Lake area. Similarly, new copper Ah-horizon anomalies will be investigated in the northeast, east and central parts of the property, and the polymetallic-REE anomaly at Spout Lake will be examined. This work will include prospecting, local geological mapping, backhoe test pitting, bedrock and soil sampling and geochemical analyses. These results will be used to generate specific targets for Phase 3 drilling planned for fall 2013. GWR is optimistic that the many new targets offer good potential for new discovery, as we continue to grow the resource at Lac La Hache Project.
