GWR Extends Aurizon Gold-Copper-Silver Zone: 172 m Grading 0.3 Cu, 0.42 gpt Au, 1.7 gpt Ag, with 2-meter Assays up to 4% Cu, 3.3 gpt Au and 30 gpt Ag
LAC LA HACHE, BRITISH COLUMBIA — GWR Resources Inc. (the “Company” or “GWR”) (TSX Venture: GWQ) is pleased to report new drill core assays from their large Lac La Hache Porphyry/Skarn Project in central British Columbia. GWR has achieved several strategic goals since summer 2011, highlighted by the restructuring of management and technical teams, significantly increased land holdings, expansion of mineralization within two zones at Lac La Hache, and completion of new ground geophysical surveys. Our latest presentation (now available on our website) was well received at the annual Kamloops Exploration Group geological conference in Kamloops BC (April 2-3, 2012). Interest shown by major mining companies in the Lac La Hache project, is growing, stimulated by continued positive results and identification of new potential.
The gold-rich Aurizon Zones (South and Central) contain multi-gram gold values with associated copper and silver in hydrothermal breccia cutting potassically altered monzonite. A 020 degree trend to these zones, indicated by soil geochemical patterns and by geophysics, has been confirmed by drilling. As announced previously (see February 2, 2012 News Release), DDH AZS11-29 intersected 8 meters at relatively shallow depth (227-235m down-hole) grading 3.6% Cu, 3.4 gpt Au, 19 gpt Ag, including 2 meters containing 9.3% Cu, 8.4 gpt Au and 48.1 gpt Ag. All Aurizon South Zone assays have now been received from the winter 2011-2012 drilling, and are tabulated below.
These 8 holes (AZS11-27 to AZS12-34) have in-filled and extended the Aurizon South Zone another 100 meters to the south, for a total drilled strike length to date of 350 meters. If combined with Aurizon Central Zone, the N-S (020) trending strike is approximately 600 meters. Magnetic lows and strong soil geochemical patterns (see new images on website) clearly associated with the Aurizon mineralization, indicate an additional1400 meter extension to the south is possible. This remains to be tested. Mineralized hydrothermal breccia extends from surface outcrop to 600 meters sub-vertically (approximately 75 degree dip) and remains open to depth. True width varies from a few meters to several tens of meters, and appears to thicken with depth. For example, the 172 meter down-hole interval cut by AZS12-34 represents a true width of approximately 86 meters. This averages 0.30 % Cu, 0.42 gpt Au, 1.66 gpt Ag, with eight 2-meter assays exceeding 1 % Cu (maximum is 3.99 % Cu over 2 meters). GWR has planned an extensive summer/fall 2012 exploration program at Lac La Hache, including ground magnetometer surveys, bedrock mapping, prospecting and a 15,000 m drilling program. The program will extend mineralization within known zones and will focus on generation and testing of exciting new targets within the larger, 40,000 hectare property (see Jan 23, 2012 News Release).
